Prerequisites For Students: (Select requirements may be waived at the activity commandant’s discretion)
- Mitchell Award recipient
- 15+ years of age
- Minimum scholastic “C” average (2.0 on 4.0 scale)
- NCOS Graduate (CAWG Cadets only)

1. On behalf of California Wing Cadet Programs, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your decision to apply for acceptance into the 2022-2023 Cadet Officer’s Basic Course. While others are enjoying the holiday season, you have made the commitment to use this time to enhance your leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities to benefit your own professional development and to better lead those you serve.
2. To ensure your application receives full consideration concerning your request to be part of the 2022 -2023 COBC Class, you will be required to submit (in MS Word format):
a. Letter on Leadership (This can be anything on leadership, philosophy, experience, or someone you admire)
b. CAP Biography using the attached format
c. Current CAP resume
d. CAPF 60-81, CAPF 160 (Health History), CAPF 161, and if you are under 18 a CAPF 163
e. Include a letter of endorsement from your Squadron Commander if you do not meet the minimum requirements listed below at the time of application
3. Qualified Student applicants will:
a. Be at least 15 years of age,
b. Carry a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.0 (on a 4-point scale) as a student in high school or college,
c. Have earned the General Billy Mitchell Award, and
d. If a member of California Wing, has graduated from Cadet Non-Commissioned Officer School (NCOS) successfully.
4. Your application package must be emailed to 2023 Applications – CAWG – COBC <c9d33c0e.cawgcap.org@amer.teams.ms> no later than Friday 20 November 2022.
5. You will be notified upon acceptance on or before Sunday 27 November 2022. You will receive instructions on how to register and make payment for the course. It is expected that you will register and make the payment prior to 1 Dec 2022.

All senior leadership, teaching, and support roles are open; these include:
- Executive Officer
- Pillar Leaders (Leadership/Management, Character Development, and Communications)
- Dining Services Officer/Support
- Academic Resources Support (Curriculum Management, Grades, Points, and Statistics)
- Network and Infrastructure Support (Computers, Network, Learning Management System)
- Logistics (Facilities Coordination, Transportation, Infrastructure Scheduling and Support)
- Instructors
- Mentors/Advisors to Cadet Students
- Safety Officer*
Previous support and participation in COBC and/or other CAWG ILP Courses and service as a member of Encampment Training Staff would be helpful in serving with this year’s COBC Senior Member Team.
To apply, please forward a letter indicating your desire and availability to serve, and the role(s) you’d like to fulfill. An optional short CAP and/or professional resume would be helpful and may be included as well. Please email your interest and professional information as requested to Lt Col Mike Mizner – Michael.Mizner@cawgcap.org no later than November 01, 2022.
