Group 2 will be hosting the first of two virtual CyberPatriot CyberCamps on June 15-19, 2020. Enrollment is open to all CAWG cadets. NHQ has made arrangements with the Air Force Association to offer this event for no-cost. More information about the CyberPatriot CyberCamp is here: https://www.uscyberpatriot.org/afa-cybercamps/getting-started/attend-a-camp
We are planning two different blocks that you can choose from for this week-long event. The first will be a traditional morning and afternoon block. The second block will be for afternoon and evenings. Attendees will be assigned to one of these blocks based on their preferences and the availability of instructors.
This June 15-19 CyberPatriot CyberCamp is designed for high school and middle school students who are just getting into cybersecurity or who have cybersecurity knowledge but want to learn more. The June camp, in particular, will teach the basics of computer security and includes:
- Introduction to virtual machines
- Cyber Ethics
- Windows 10 (including security policies, account management, file protections)
- Ubuntu Linux (concepts, basic user interface, command line and intermediate security)
- A practice CyberPatriot competition
The June CyberCamp attendees do not need to have any prior knowledge of cybersecurity to participate. Some very basic knowledge of computer hardware (knowing how to use a mouse, browse the internet, identify common computer icons, etc.) is helpful but not necessary. Patricipation in the CyberPatriot competition is not required but is encouraged. The June 15-19 CyberCamp does not require you to have experience in the CyberPatriot competition.
