Important Request for the 2010
International Air Cadet Exchange
California Wing is again planning to host international cadets as part of the 2010 International Air Cadet Exchange Program. We have a rich tradition hosting cadets from all over the world in our great State. California is consistently one of the perennial favorites among all international cadets and it is because of you -- the members of California Wing -- that we have such a great reputation.
The activities we hope to include this year are: Disneyland, glider and power orientation rides, kayaking, tours of Vandenberg AFB and Moffett ARB, attending a county fair, a day at the beach, touring San Francisco including Alcatraz Island and much more.
National Headquarters allocates only $50 per cadet per day for the 10-day stay. This amount is supposed to pay for all lodging, food and activities during their visit. A traditional activity such as Disneyland alone costs $69 per person. As you can see it would be near impossible to give these cadets a first rate tour of California on $50 per day.
Please assist hosting our international friends -- make a donation to the CAWG IACE Host Fund today! Please click on the link below to donate any amount you feel is appropriate or you can send a check to CAWG Headquarters made out to CAWG IACE. If you would like to host an entire single activity or have any questions, please contact the project officer, Lt Col Peggy Myrick at 805-453-0224 or peggym@bmaslo.com.
Thank you for your continued support of both the Cadet Program and the International Air Cadet Exchange Program.

The California Wing Cadet Programs Section serves the needs of all Civil Air Patrol Cadets in
the California Wing, Civil A ir Patrol. The cadet program is designed to provide youth ages 12-20 training in followership,
leadership, aerospace education, communication, and emergency services. Cadets receive training in
these areas at their weekly squadron meetings as well as participating in local and wing level activities
that occur throughout the year.
Cadets join local squadrons as Cadet Airman Basics (C/AB) and progress through the program by taking leadership and aerospace exams, physical fitness tests, attending activities, as well as serving in ever progressing leadership positions. Cadets work
towards completion of the five milestone awards in the cadet program named after the Wright Brothers, General Billy Mitchell,
Amelia Earhart, General Ira C. Eaker, and General Carl A. Spaatz.
Activities make the cadet program the most interesting and exciting youth program available in the country today. They are held at the local (squadron or group), wing (state level), region and national levels. These activities
range from simple overnight Basic Cadet Schools to week-long cadet encampments to National Cadet Special Activities.
During their cadet career, cadets will have the opportunity to participate in leadership positions, flight training,
emergency services, communications and more. Cadets that reach the grade of Cadet Captain (C/CAPT) may apply for International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) and serve as an overseas ambassador of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program to one of serveral foreign countries.
Adult members (CAP Senior Members) work with cadets providing training, mentoring and supervision.
