Description:

An educational course designed to prepare Cadet Officers to become the executive leaders of their Wings.

Through a process of classroom academics, simulations, exercises and personal interaction, students are provided the opportunity to obtain and education in leadership and management communication and applied ethical decision making.

Upcoming Activities:
Requirements: (requirements may be waived at Commander's discretion)
  • Mitchell Award recipient
  • 15 years of age or older
  • Minimum scholastic average (2.0 on 4.0 scale)
  • NCOS Graduate (California Wing cadets only)
Curriculum:
  • Understand trait-based leadership theory
  • Identify sources of power
  • Learn motivation and behavior; and follower-based leadership approaches
  • Study the principles of transactional leadership with emphasis on:
    • Situational Leadership 2
    • One Minute Manager
  • Learn the foundations of transformational leadership
  • Learn problem solving
  • Understand the importance of personality in leadership
  • Establishing achievable objectives
  • Conduct an interview
  • Run an effective meeting
  • Learn the art of time management
  • Run an effective meeting
  • Learn communication theory
  • Gain active listening skills
  • Learn writing formats and procedures for writing speeches
  • Conduct impromptu speeches
  • Practice instructional teaching
  • Understand the importance of:
    • Character
    • Ethics & Values
    • Honor
    • Loyalty
    • Citizenship
